lyrics

This is about a boy who was afraid of flowers.

Everyday he saw their elegance and beauty, and longed to know their scent and texture. But when he came too close, fear would overcome him. One day he met a girl, “Fear is the heart of love” she told him. He did not understand.

Many days past and the boy grew fond of the girl. They spent the seasons with each other. During the summer months they explored the outside world. During the winter months they held tight together.

Eventually the girl asked the boy why he was so afraid of flowers. To this he responded: “I’ve never touched one before, therefore I cannot know with complete certainty that it will not swallow me whole.” Upon hearing this the girl burst into laughter. “Me and you are the only certainty in this world.” She told him.

That day something changed in the boy. As if death itself had revealed it's mysteries to him. When he was with the girl, they ran through fields of flowers. When he was with the girl, he was at peace with his fate. When he was with the girl, he understood.
